A time of loss can be emotional and overwhelming for families. This ministry aims to provide comfort to grieving families.
We provide a luncheon for ur parish family members immediately following a funeral. Set up, food prep, serving, and cleanup for families and guests at this difficult time in their lives. We coordinate with committee members to help make or buy all the food for the reception.
We also send greeting cards to those who have lost loved ones in the last year each Christmas.
This group has not been active since prior to the pandemic. We are in need of wonderful people to get this team back up and running. Those interested should contact the parish office at 410-326-3535.
Each spring, our parish throws a beautiful event called the Fr. Alexander Gala. This annual tradition here at Our Lady Star of the Sea celebrates Fr. Maurice B Alexander, our first resident pastor. It is thanks to his tenacity, servant heart, and zeal for the Faith that Catholicism was able to take root here in Calvert County.
During this event, we award an individual or family the Fr. Alexander Award.
This Award was created to honor the legacy of our our first resident pastor. The award recognizes those who reflect the spirit of Fr. Alexander by working tirelessly to make our community a better place through their efforts.
